Hassan Khan is an internationally renowned specialist in complex tax litigation and cross border fraud litigation. He also works on international commercial projects with a tourism, property or Islamic finance specialisation.
Hassan’s acknowledged market-leading expertise in VAT and HM Revenue & Customs issues led to him being instructed to act for Bond House Systems Limited in the landmark test case against HM Revenue & Customs. This ground-breaking case before the European Court of Justice set a precedent for over 200 further cases involving well over £1.6 billion in tax.
Prior to setting up the firm, Hassan was Senior Lawyer of European Legal Affairs at HM Revenue & Customs Solicitor’s Office. In 2001, he moved to the global law firm Baker & McKenzie to head their VAT and Customs practice.
In the last year he has acted on litigation matters with a combined value of around £1.5 billion and on commercial projects (including as lead adviser to two Middle Eastern Governments) with a value of £2 billion and on a ground breaking offshore oil exploration project with field reserve estimates of 18 billion barrels.
