Aliya has a background in Financial Services, with expertise in both contentious and non-contentious regulatory, civil and criminal matters.  She trained and subsequently worked post-qualification as an Associate at the Financial Services Authority in both the General Counsel’s and Enforcement Division. 

Her time at the FSA allowed Aliya to gain invaluable experience in a wide variety of perimeter matters involving the scope of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and related secondary legislation as well as being part of multi-disciplinary case teams taking enforcement action in both civil and criminal cases against both individuals and firms. 

Aliya also spent some time on secondment at international firm White & Case as part of the Dispute Resolution Group and was involved in a number of large-scale cross border arbitration and litigation cases.
